  1. Having got some advice about running/owning a Nissan Skyline V36 350GT sedan, I'm now at the stage where I need some advice on which importer to go for. All Imports have a couple of good ones and I recently test drove one which seemed nice - 2007, 17k on the clock. However, I went in blind with no real knowledge about what to look out for. At this stage should I get an independent mechanic to check it out - any recommendations in Sydney? Have people purchased cars from them before?
  2. Some great info so far, thanks!! Now, looking at the likes of carsales.com.au and carpoint.com.au, there are a few V36 350GT's around in Sydney, namely at SportsAutoGroup and EVI. Anyone have any recommendations of good importers in Sydney? Also, one sedan which caught my eye is a 2007 model with only 17k on the clock (not sure if I'm allowed to link it here), is there a way of checking whether that is genuine mileage? Some further concerns, how is it possible to check whether the car has had serious damage/re-work done whilst abroad, prior to import? Is checking the service history reliable? Is it worth getting it checked out by an independent mechanic? And in relation to a good mechanic - who do you guys use, or anyone able to recommend anyone in Sydney who is able to service a imported Skyline? Lastly, anyone heard of J-Spec Imports? Seem to have a wide range of imported vehicles, just wondering how good they are? Thanks once again!
  3. Thanks for the advice. I was told that the parts are similar to the 350Z and servicing will be easy. How has your car been for you in terms of running costs? You're absolutely right in that the HSV and the Skyline are completely different and will drive differently - the Skyline is refined power, whereas HSV is brute force! I think that if I'm comfortable with the running/servicing costs of the Skyline and the fact they won't be any nasty surprises (unpredictable I know), I may well go for it!
  4. Hello everyone, Just joined the forums to ask for some advice. Can't decide whether I should take the plunge to get a Skyline V36 350GT sedan import. Enjoyed test driving one the other day but concerned about how it will be to own. What are the running costs like, are parts readily available, will it ever be possible to make the screen English??!!? The one I'm looking at is gunmetal, $28990 with 17k on the clock. It's either this or going for a HSV Clubsport (maybe even a FPV GT), which is more expensive, but has the V8 muscle - haven't driven one yet so can't compare just now. I just can't decide at the moment and wanted to get any advice on owning a Skyline. Just how much fun is it??? Any advice, recommendations would be welcome and thanks in advance for your time!
