  1. Hey guys, Quick questions to the engine savvy people, just over two weeks ago i purchased a Dealer X-Demo 2013 Nissan Pulsar ST-L with about 6000 kms on the clock, after a week of driving i started noticing it had a rough idle whilst stopped at traffic lights, i looked at the RPM Tacho needle which was moving between 600 rpm to 800 rpm sometimes eventually it will settle at about 700 rpm but still move ever so slightly, whilst my foot is on the brake i can feel the engine like shaking slightly, as if its about to stall but doesn't. Almost as if it just can find a idle hot spot. Yesterday I took it to a Nissan service centre and go one of their techs to look at it, he took it for a test drive and said whilst driving, "oh these models just have a rough idle, not much can be done about it" he said he would hook it up to the computer and re set the idle. I drove it home and felt like it was fixed, didn't really see the Tacho jumping around nor feel the shake, however this morning i drove it to work and it came back again. I rang another service centre to get a second opinion and i spoke with a knowledgable person there who said last year Nissan did an upgrade of the ECU but it caused it hunt whilst in idle. Hopefully he can help me so I am taking it to this guy tomorrow however i just wanted to get some quick advice in general. Should the RPM needle be moving at all? and should i even feel that stalling shake on the engine? To me thats not normal, i do not want a new car with that sort of an issue, it doesn't seem right to me. Thanks in advance Jay
  2. thanks for the help fellas, the noisy engine always happens when the car starts up, i drive it for 5 minutes and then it goes away, might try the oil change idea.
  3. Thanks for the reply mate. In the morning when the car is cold, its make some noise but don't know if its the engine or the car just warming up because it stops after 10 mins of driving or if its warm in the morning it wont do it at all. Any idea on what the Cam Sensors are to replace?
  4. Hey guys, My sincere apologies if this has been covered but its more for personal advice anyway. The Check Engine light on my 2001 V35 250GT came on and went to my mechanic who scanned it and came up with a problem with the Cam Sensor and apparently after looking into more he found that the Timing Chain was stretching, i haven't heard of this before to be honest and wanted to see if anyone else had. My mechanic seems to think to fix it all, would be upwards of $3000 as the whole front end would need replacing (Sensors, Belts, Chain) ETC, it still drives perfectly however, so im considering just driving it into the ground. However in saying this I really just want to get rid of the car and thought id see what people think, am i better of selling as or trading it in and of course advising of the problem with the engine and seeing what i can get or just selling for the whole thing for parts, not sure if many people want parts for these particular cars though? Any advise would be much appreciated. Thanks Jay
  5. Thanks for the reply Scotty, If you read it, that would be great just so i have some sort of an idea as to what it is I'll be honest i havnt replaced any fluid in the transmission, my mechanic is a trans specialist so i assumed he would tell me this stuff, he said ages ago may need a service but never really followed up on it since, all he said last service was brakes need to be done. i thought it might be the switch, its the beige colour. Thanks again mate
  6. Hey guys, long time reader, dont post much as im a noob when it comes to the technical side of cars, in the last year i purchased a 2001 V35 sedan - I get it regularly serviced (has done about 180,000 KMS) by my local mechanic but at the moment there are quite a few issues and he doesn't know anything about them to fix them If anyone could help that would be great, i am sorry if this is a repost! 1. Air Bag light on my dash is flashing, when i open the tv up it has an error written in Japanese *see below* http://s22.postimg.org/7q6gkmn41/photo1.jpg 2. If i take off from traffic lights sometimes my car lags abit to click over to the next gear and then it suddenly clicks into the next gear and a bunch of black smoke comes from the exhaust, 3. Passenger window switch wont put window down however if i push it from my drivers side, it works fine If anyone could offer any advice it would be much appreciated also if anyone could recommend a mechanic in the south east suburbs of Melbourne that would be great as i need to find someone who knows about these cars locally to help me Thanks alot in advance Jay
  7. Thanks for the reply guys. well everyones heard of these rims... the Gestault Virouge... i found someone selling them cheap so i figured why not, the seller is not sure of the offsets... he mentioned they were on a skyline but he put them on an AU Falcon with spacers - whatever that means. Excuse my Noobness. I knew this at 18 years old, 6 years later ive forgotten it all lol.
  8. Hi Guys, really sorry if this as been covered im just lost and searched and searched but im so confused. I have a 2001 V35 250GT Sedan and wanted to put some rims on it i found some 19" Gestault rims, just cant find any details about what offsets i need to clear and what not. the stud pattern apparently is 5X114.3 so i dont even know if they'll fit. Ahhh so confused lol any help would be great. Thanks in advance Jay
  9. i had an Auto R33 with an Aftermarket blow off valve...if you dont keep the revs up it always stalled...embarrassing stalling a auto i tell you lol.... i replaced the BOV for the original factory one and it never did it again

  11. Thanks mate, Chris is helping me as we speak
  12. Hey Guys, Just in abit of a dilemma and would love some assistance... i am on the verge of picking up a 2001 V35 250GT i bought last week and the only problem with it all is that the stock cd player is stuffed... apparantly it has a 6 disc cd stacker and is jammed...it does say something like "CHECK DISC" on the screen when you try to play the cd... now these V35's from what im learning are quite the hard thing to work on...im not so interested in the jap to english coversions just yet...just want to get the cd player working.... now i have read a few topics but nothing really covers my problem... pretty much what should i do here.... the seller who im buying it off has agreed to pay the cost of repairs and took it to someone last week who said he needs to order in a part as apparantly the rubber bands that move the cd player have gone or something or rather and as the seller said it would cost about $200 for the part etc (note. this seller does not speak the best english, so its hard for me to understand some of what he says) Does anyone have a clue what it might be? i dont want to spend a fortune just yet buying facia kits and that stuff...trying to find the cheapest option possible to get me out of this dilemma! Sorry if this has been covered but any help would be absolutely appreciated! P.S The seller told me there is some sort of disc player/card reader in the glove box for the TV...anyone have any idea what that is for exactly? Cheers Jay
