About Me
John Boston has been around cars his whole life. Having been brought up in a motor sport family, it was a given that he would end up driving cars in some shape or form.
John started in motor sport in 1983 in his Aunties Toyota Corolla at a car club Motorkhana. In that event he won the junior class by 20 seconds. John continued to dominate motorkhanas in the junior and senior categories and has won 9 state and 3 national titles. After a
couple of years in motorkhanas, John started entering khanacross events to gain more experience. It did not take long for John to start winning his class in theses events. John was offered to drive a much more powerful Datsun in these event's and was soon fighting for outright wins and also winning theses events before he was off his P plates. John won a number of state khanacross titles.
John big break was in 1989. During this year John won the highly contested Toyota/Modern Motor Magazine Star Search competition. The contest was run over 6 month's which included interviews and driving tests, with the winner competing for Toyota at the Winton 300 endurance event.
John started showing interest in bitumen events, and in the early-mid 90's won many Club Car/Improved Production car events and titles, setting many lap records of which one still stands to this day.
In 1997 John decided that he wanted to try and be involved in cars on a full time basis. This was the year that he started teaching Advanced/Defensive Driver Training. Johns experience has enabled him to be able to travel around Australia passing on his knowledge to companies and organisations that have company vehicles, giving lectures at schools, 4WD driver training, teaching at various skid pan days, teaching at many track days that he is involved in and is a test driver for leading motoring publications Motor and Wheels magazines.
John has also driven for Team Australia for a number of years at Tsukuba in Japan, won many Time Attack categories in Australia, driven in the Fujitsu V8 Supercars in which he finished 10th at Homebush 2010 on debut and has been a full time driver for the Toyota Hilux Heroes Precision Driving Team since 2008.
