  1. the track was quiet because the lap before it started raining lightly. i figured i'd go out for another lap so went straight back onto the track. aside from the oil spill and having to give way to the renault in the Foxhole it was a clean lap. I was surprised by the little swift too! only 100kw but it has lots of grip, decent suspension and not much weight. you barely have to brake and it was really fun to drive. lacks the power on the long uphill section in keselchen but you can still carry good corner speed for most of the track. in one of my other laps i was chasing a C63 AMG, he blew away from me on the straights but i could eat him up into corners - i think he was more worried about writing it off than I was though.
  2. My first time at Nurburgring Nordschleife in a Suzuki Swift (www.rentracecar.com). Awesome experience. 9.30 Bridge to Gantry, more in it with more practice and a clean lap (no oil/yellow flags). Also went for a taxi lap in the 911 Turbo S (991 shape) Ring taxi with a drive who'd done over 10,000laps. Amazing.
  3. +1 for super dragger's comments. 250rwkw is pretty easy for a Z32 TT, even on 98Octane and standard injectors (although you'd prefer the 555cc's at a minimum to have some more headroom). Standard fuel pump is good for over 450kw on 98 oct. For 250kw you'd need Good condition OEM fuel pump 555cc injectors for some headroom. Larger Side mount intercoolers Tune Exhaust from dumps back (standard dumps are pretty good for this power level) All your maintenance up to scratch If you are running E85 and put some more boost into it I'd expect over 300kw. Mine is making 320kw on 20psi (98Octane) and I am going to run it on E85 soon and see what it makes. I wouldn't really listen to the people saying they have electrical issues... I can't really think of any common electrical issues and they don't suffer from the coilpack issues that plague skylines. Probably would budget for a S2 PTU (as per s2 r33 GTS-t). I've had mine for close to 7 years and have never had an electrical fault.
  4. the 6466 is popular with the Supra fans so there are some results for 3.0L motors but results on the RB26 are pretty hard to find. The general consensus from what I read was don't bother with the 6766 as the 6466 is so damn good and punches above it's weight. Our set up still has more in it, I've heard these turbos love 35psi+ so when we get it to hold spark we will go back on the dyno to see how it goes.
  5. Cool. what rear housing are you running on the 25/30 and are you retaining VCT?
  6. A lot of people wanting to see a 6466 on an RB26 dyno sheet... I will post this pic and vid but keep in mind it's not finished yet. The 6466 turbo is pretty awesome. We did an overlay of this turbo compared to the old setup (twin GT28-10's) and the car makes heaps more torque and power in the mid range compared to the twins. 583kw on 30psi Precision 6466 with 0.84 rear 6 boost mani with 50mm turbosmart gate 280degree 10.8 Tomei cams, bigger valves, springs, retainers, porting etc E98 Ethanol from Powerplus Tuned by Trent @ Chequered Tuning (0414 944 146) Still running off wastegate spring pressure (no boost controller), hits 23psi at 4500rpm. Needs a larger gate because it starts to creep up slowly towards 30psi (hence the increasing torque curve). Holds 30psi after about 7000rpm til redline so we can probably run more boost after the ignition is upgraded (blows out spark above 30psi). Definitely more left in it.
  7. I have the podium 2 and I'm a similar size/weight to you. it's pretty comfortable to drive to/from the track and I've also done some longer drives in it (great ocean rd, about 8hrs in the car that day).
  8. I haven't been to a PIARC day, how much track time can you expect on the saturday and how do they group cars for the practice sessions? Is it BYO timing for the saturday or can you pay to hire a dorian?
  9. I've fixed the macro but there's a few updates I need to do the results spreadsheet. It now needs to cater for more than 50 drivers (when I wrote the spreadsheet a few years ago we never had more than 50 drivers) and there's a number of rule changes which I need to write into the scoring macro as Ryan/Leon are having to do some manual changes now. My macro skills are pretty average so it takes me a while to figure it out, I'm an engineer not an IT person so I've just figured out how to write basic code myself. Regarding data entry, I think it's still important to have the pen and paper for the records but you could also have 3 laptops with decent battery and MS Excel (about 3 hours for the morning session, charge during the break). I'd gladly bring my laptop up for DECA's but it's old and only lasts about 30minutes when I unplug it. Then it's just a case of copy/pasting to one master file, run the score macro and then do some quick sanity checks to make sure it's all correct.
  10. do they need any flaggies/helpers? i am still deciding between entering this event or saving the $$ so I can do more Phillip Island days in September...
  11. what an awesome track, this was my first time at PI so I am happy with my times and still so much more left in it, need more balls. thanks to the organisers, officials and photographers. also thanks to John for showing me around in my first session Does anyone know when the next PI day is? I have found PIARC and MSCA events in Sept so I think I might aim for one of those events.
  12. I emailed Dirk from WRX club and he recommended I do 1 or 2 sessions with the DT group with an instructor (Richo or Martin?) and then can do the rest of the day solo since DT sessions aren't timed.
  13. I got my entry in. I haven't been to PI before, I paid the full $210 but is it worth doing the Driver Training instead or will I be allowed to get someone experienced to sit next to me and show me around in my first session and then do the rest of the day solo?
  14. this is going slightly off topic but australia's tariffs on imported cars are really, really low... something like 3.5% now compared to 30% in the 90's. i don't think there is any conspiracy between the govt and the 3 local car manufacturers to make people buy aussie made cars.
