Recommendation Required: Wheel Spacer Questions

Hi All,

I have a 2005 Auto Skyline coupe with 19inchers with 245/35 profiles. My suspensions are standard and car is not lowered.

I want to have a more staunch look so that my wheels come out a bit.

I believe the spacers are the way to go.

Questions:

1) Would you recommend? What do you guys think?

2) What thickness do i go for? front and back?

3) What types are there and what are the good ones? (mid range?)

4) likely cost at a Jax or bobjane type garages?

basically like i said i am more going for wider look but not going outside legal limits. I also would get good ones for safety and dont want my wheel coming off the motorway as it is my daily drive.

hope to hear back. I would take your recommendations seriously. My wheels are due for alignment and may get the guys to install these while its there.

Completely illegal and will give your insurance company an excuse to get out of a claim. The only safe way to do it is to increase the stance by going wider rims (no wider than 30% on top of factory width) while maintaining the offset within 12.5mm of factory offset. Which keeps things totally legal

If you are going to use spacers

1 - Make sure they are hubcentric

2 - Bolt ons are the way to go

I'm not sure what the standard offset is, but maybe you could get a 15mm bolt on spacer.

No they will only cover you for legal modifications so in the result of an accident they could dismiss you're claim if they feel the spacers may have contributed to the accident.

I know lots of people run spacers but in my opinion they are just not worth it. Buy new wheels if you wont a better stance... couple of grand for wheels or the potential fines and cost of repairs on you're car and any other car involved in an accident. as said tho that's just my opinion so take it or leave it :)

Maintaining your vehicle
We don’t provide cover if any of these applied to your vehicle when the
incident happened:
• your vehicle was not in good order and repair because it had :
– any unrepaired damage
– rust, mechanical or any other damage that made it unsafe to drive
• your vehicle was not in a condition that met the registration requirements
in your State or Territory.
If spacers aren't legal in your state then according to this, you won't be covered.
