My Rb30Det Build Timing

Recommended Posts

I had my car running good today, went for a drive and my car just started reving high on idle so I drove home, and stared it at home now I an idle hunt goes from 1000 to 3-4000 what are the main cause of idle hunt?

You must have a vacuum leak and a big one for it to rev that high..

You mentioned you were going to pressure test, did you?

You should now.

Did you set the timing correctly? Not that it would fix your high idle issue. But it would nice for the people that have helped you to know if it worked or not.

I did pressure test it the other day and found leaking injector insulators but fixed that, I'll do I pressure test tomorrow and report back. I got it close but when I took it for a drive it boosted up high but felt like it wasn't doing anything so we advanced the timing a little and it went a lot better and it also helped with a oil pressure problem I had

What the.....

How did the timing help with oil pressure?

As for the timing you either have it set to 15 at idle or not .

You sound like you might be be in over your head here.

It's just a thermo switch for the front fan. Kicks in about 90 degrees

what fan are you talking about? the condenser fan? that's for the air con condenser to keep it at 40degree celcius. the sensor in the radiator I thought was a coolant sensor.

The sensor/switch mounted in the bottom RHS of the radiator is for the thermo fan.

If you're bored, unplug it and bridge it with a paper clip :)

i had a good look around a few years ago but couldn't find a 3 wire fan that size off the shelf.....i didn't look too hard though....any ideas?

eh?

it's a 2-wire 12V DC fan bro lol

Just get a SPAL item off eBay and whack it on the front, and if you're keen use a different thermoswitch so the thermo kicks in earlier
