Hi all,

Does anyone run spacers on their R34 GTT on stock wheels? Can you share some photos please?

Just interested in what they might look like ... and no, not keen on changing to a different set of wheels.

There's a fair bit of distance between the wheel and the guard in stock form:

You could possibly slot in a 20mm hub centric one in the rear and still have clearance?

Just an FYI, from what i have experienced with standard nissan wheels need to machine out the wheel to be able to use a hub centric spacer on them. or machine off the locating ring on the spacer, but then your wheel will not located properly.

looks like you are running a bit of negative camber in that photo if yu pulled that out the wheel wouldn't be so sunken at the top

My wheels look like in mlr's photo so it should be alright.

Yep, just pulled rear upper control arms out today, trying to get some eccentric SuperPro bushes onto them tomorrow to adjust :) Maybe that'll make it look a bit more decent, too.

I ran 25mm hubcentric spacers on mine, needed to have the guards rolled though running under -2 deg on the rear, the R34 GTT rims are recessed to accept spacers no problem.

20mm or below works but any more you will need to roll guards as said by others above.

Thanks guys, did you have any photos by any chance?

Sounds like 10mm might be enough and avoid rolling the guards ... Do they make hub centric spacers in 10mm?

Ok.... finally got around to this. Bought some 20mm hub centric spacers and put them in all four corners.

What do you reckon, do I need to roll the guards? The car is not super low but the tyres are 'fatter' than most as they have the sidewall wheel guards that extend several mm past the rims (Eagle F1), and I'm wondering if they're going to rub under load...?

Pics below, apologies for the filthy wheels. Fronts:

Shouldn't rub unless you corner heavily, depends also on how stiff your suspension is. Do you have aftermarket coilovers?

BTW, did you buy your hub-centric's from GKtech?

I need some to push my 9.5 +15's out now that I flared my rears 40mm :)

Thanks mate - yes I've got BC BR's on but they're not super stiff. Might look into rolling the guards just in case..

The spacers are off ebay, exactly the same specs as the GKtech's except for the stud length. The quality seems good, and a very good price. I didn't want extended studs as I want to be able to put the centre caps back on, otherwise would have gone the GK's.

40mm, that's some serious flaring, put up some pics when it's done :)

Quick question - since installing the spacers (together with adjustable upper control arms and radius rods) I am experiencing slight knocking/jarring at full lock e.g. when shuffling around to park.

I have done a cursory check of clearances, the tyres don't seem to touch and I can't see any marks anywhere ... Has anyone else had similar, I wonder what it could be?

I ended up zip-tieing the plastic inner guard lining in front of the wheels and it's much better now, no more jarring.

There's also a little plastic 'ridge' on the rear side that you just push in for a tiny bit more clearance.

Just in case anyone is curious I'm running these 20mm ebay spacers: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Pair-5-Stud-20mm-Thick-5x114-3mm-PCD-M12xP1-25-Nissan-Wheel-Spacers-Drift-Race-/200901360401?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2ec6a77b11

Couple of tips from my wheel alignment joint: 1) the wheel nuts that come with the spacers go on the original wheel studs, 2) use loctite on them.

    • Take the pads out, one side at a time, and see that the pistons on the padless side move properly when you press the pedal. Just to make sure that they're all doing the right thing. You can restrain 2 out of 3 pistons on a side if you need to make sure that one of them is moving. You might have too because if there is one pistons that is much easier to move than the others, then it will and they won't. Same (but opposite) with one that is much stickier than the others. You might find that one side is not working properly. To be clear, I do not think the caliper is spreading. It seriously only looks like it is moving side to side. To spread it has to bend around an axis formed by a line through the bridge bolts (basically the line between the two caliper halves along the top. (I'd hate to think that a brand new Alcon caliper would be that bendy.) That implies the piston related problems I speculate above.
    • Hi guys, Looking for some help from the brains trust again please. Recently the RB20 in my 32 overheated, I was able to limp it home and discovered absolutely no coolant in my radiator and steam pissing out of the overflow. Since then, I have flushed the block and the radiator. We discovered that the heater box was blocked so until I can replace that we have deleted it by removing the hoses from the firewall and connecting them to each other. Filled up with coolant and demineralised water and have bled it on a number of occasions for 30-60 minutes. Now I can still drive the car but after about 30 minutes the temp guage starts shooting up and I'm at a bit of a loss as to why. The thermostat appears to be working as the lower rad hose does warm up with the rest of the engine. I'm not losing/leaking any coolant. No oil in coolant or vice versa and my mechanic friend has performed a head check which didn't indicate any gasses passing into the coolant. I've also replaced the radiator cap with a brand new GKtech one (which I have happily used on all my cars without issue) At this point I'm considering the following: Running radflush through the radiator and engine. Replacing radiator and thermostat. Anyone have any other thoughts or suggestions? TIA
    • This would be the only reason the dogbone would flex - pushing/pulling it based on unequal load. Not sure how to check for this besides putting a gauge on each bleed nipple and giving it the berries to see what pressure it reads.
