Rebuild Or Buy Another Skyline.

Recommended Posts

today i decided to drive to the video shop but on the way some wanker commodore driver in his vy ss came around a corner in an attempted drift and lost control and slammed front on into my r33.

i will post pics up later but my whole front end has been destroyed, even the engine is a wreck.....just want your opinion on what i should do?

so stressed as it was my daily driver.

That sucks, id lose it if somebody crashed into mine :/

I guess it depends on how extensive the damage is, and how much you care about having a car with repaired damage.

Personally im picky as with my cars, and i wouldnt want a repair done on anything serious.

There are plenty of 33's out there so if your not too attached to it and its not anything special, id get another one, but thats me :(

craig is right. if you or the other guy have insurance than simply go through it and get it fixed.

as for driving a repaired car, a hell of a lot of imports are repaired cars as it is (a i'd say that a majority of owners have no idea that their car has been crashed as it may have happened in japan). if done properly you shouldn't be able to tell the difference between a repaired car and a new car. it's when people do it in their back yard without getting proper alignments done that you end up with something that doesn't drive right.

Has he got insurance.. Or more importantly.. Do you? Get a repairer to take a look.. might be a write off anyway.. So insurance can pay you out..

yeah i have full comprehensive insurance which cost a s*** load but it looks like it was worth paying after something like this has happened.

the other guy is totally screwed as he had no insurance not even third party, the car wasn't even registered.

Sorry to hear about your car, mate.

At least you are safe and, god forbid, not end up on Today Tonight program showing half-cutted Commodore and crumpled Skyline on the side of the road (We all know how the news is going to turn up right?).

Anyhow, I would recommend as Joe_89. If you are not too attached to your R33, it would be better to get another car if the damage is very bad.

Good luck, mate.

PS.. Suck shit to the commodore driver.. Hope he gets reamed.. And i hope you got all his details + any witnesses to prove he was tehre and what he did.. Also report it to the police.. Fag deserves it anyway..

post a pic of it so we can see how bad the damage is. it might not be that bad? i'm guessing that it won't be a write off (i've seen some pretty nasty looking damage get fixed before because it was mostly cosmetic and very little structural damage.

a lot of people are overly picky when it comes to buying a damaged car, however as i said before, a hell of a lot of imports on the roads these days have been in some sort of accident, and you also don't know what accident history the car had in japan, and it's pretty much impossible to find out.

1 - get his details, car details, photos if you want

2 - report to police

3 - claim insurance

Easy... no need to worry about fixing it yourself unless the insurance company writes it off and then you buy it back to fix up.

Tonight on Today Tonight, Skyline driver involved in drifting accident on public road, watch as we manipulate the story to our own advantage to satisfy the opinions of the mis-informed majority to convince politicians and relevant authorities to further tighten laws created through knee-jerk reactions while serious issues go un-checked, hear the horror story of a pensioner who was vaguely involved somehow.

did the cops even show up....

if the engine has also been damaged as u say then im pretty much certain it will be a right off for sure....

if u have the car at home take off everything u have put in it (even some exp stock parts) and when the assessor comes just say that how it was....get ur payout and buy an r34 lol

depends on how the engine has been damaged. if it is only things like the radiator, fan, etc, then it is only minor damage. i know a guy that fell asleep on the highway in his 33 and ran up the back of the car in front. hell of a lot of damage. pushed the whole front end of the car in. busted both headlights, stuffed the radiator, fan, all that sort of stuff. thought it was going to be a write off, but it wasn't.

yeah but he has said that the engine is a "wreck" to me that means its that the engine has been quite badly damaged meaning that it is more that just the headlight and radiator support....but until we see pics and the asesor comes out we all just guessing really...

not saying that this guy is, but some people are total drama queens when when it comes to car damage. i've had people tell me about how they crashed their car and it was a total wreck, etc, then gone round to have a look at it and it was nothing more than a few minor dents.

i had mum ring me one day to say that she had pulled the rear bumper off her car cause she had reversed a touch to far and it got caught on a stake in the garden. went round to have a look (expecting it to be totally off the car and have torn all the brackets, etc) and it had just unclipped part of the lower skirt in 1 spot that i was able to clip back into place in about 2 seconds.
