Hi All,

A while back people were chatting about removing the air filters in their stags, some cut plastic/metal to get

to complete the job, which is un-necessary. So here's my little guide to make things easy.

1. Remove the glove box retaining screws.

2.Remove the clip that holds the glove box tension cable.

3.Remove the plastic & metal backing/support panels.

4.Remove the various screws and loom clips.

Also those screws which keep the two halves of the air box together as it will

make for easier removal of the filters and to get a vacuum nozzle in there.

5. You should now have easy access to the filters.

Slide the top one out first, then lift the bottom one up and slide out.

There should be just enough clearance over the remaining support plate.

6. Inspect the air box for dirt, leaves etc.....

7.Clean out the air box, hopefully you have some small attachments/hoses to use here.

8.Bemuse yourself at how the aircon ever sucked/blew given how dirty the filters are.

9.Vacuum the filters as best you can, I found the brush attachment to come in handy here.

10.Give the filters a good soak/wash.... be careful with the charcoal pad on the reverse side

as it can be brittle or easy to rip off.

11.Allow to to dry for a couple of hours, or low heat in front of a fan heater for quicker turnaround.

( no pic needed ere :) )

12.Nice clean filters are ready to go back in.

13.Installation is a reverse of the above.

Pic of part number for reference.

quick question, what about blowing the filters with an air compressor (obviously after you get most of the bigger stuff off)?

i have an absolutely piss weak vacuum cleaner is all  this is how i clean the filter on the vacuum cleaner as well :D

pretty sure that when i did this i just removed both the plastic backing plate and the metal one and then both filters were on display and that is all i had to remove, no loosening of anything else

I just took my filters out to clean them & all I had to remove were the plastic & metal backing plates behind the glove box too.

Good guide though. My filters were not as dirty as I imagined them to be.

i think they are the same as in the maximas, i heard somewhere that they are not much (either $30 each or $30 all up, can't remember tho)

also read somewhere that they have carbon in them to remove odor, so its probably not so good to wash them and blow them out

i've done mine and they are still going well, might be worth getting new ones tho
