Rb26 Pfc On A Stock Rb20

Hi,

im buying this power fc.

it is a rb26 pfc that been changed to suit rb20 with a patch loom.

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Rb...Fc-t223618.html

if it is reset back to the base map, will it be able to run on stock rb20 injectors & afm?

im thinking that resetting it back to base map it would expect there to be gtr injectors installed.

Apparently it did run with the rb20 afm, but im not sure on the injectors.

i have a wideband so i might be able to adjust it to get it running, but seems to me i would need to adjust the fuel map for smaller injectors than the more usual upgraded ones?

i will be upgrading injectors & afm later but i want to get this fc running asap.

thanks

hey mate,

i have told u that it will run...

why bother messing around with the base map??

get it tuned as u will need to do anyways and the tuner will adjust the injectors/afm to watever u have in ur car...

i was getting re tunes for the cost of hours spent so its not gonna be expensive! and then u will have the power fc running to ur setup NOT someone elses!!

thanks!

do note that if you perform a DATA INIT on this PFC it will return to a normal rb26 PFC

that is, you will loose the settings that make it work as an Rb20 PFC

so the injectors, afm, afm ramp, and maps will go out the window and the base map will be an Rb26 map.

it wont idle with rb26 base map settings and will run like a bucket of junk - so if you do DATA INIT the unit, make sure you note these settings down

dude it works, i have sat in the car, driven the car, watched the diagnostics on the pfc, it works, 100%.

i believe it that it works, i just want to know if i can get it working in my car asap with stock injectors & afm

cheers

thanks yeah this is what im interested in, all i want to be able to do is set it for a base rb20 map.

(im running stock injectors/afm for now)

so its just a matter of inputting the injector & afm specs after data init & it will be driveable?

cheers

or just plug it in when u get to the tuner and tune it!!!!!!!

i want to plug it in and have it running asap on a 'base tune'

im not going to drive it hard at all (& run very low boost) also i have a wideband gauge to keep an eye on afr's

once thats ok i will fit my turbo.

then i will buy some injectors & a afm. i might fit them myself especially since i should be able to adjust the fc maps/settings.

then after that i will take it for a tune.

so thats why i would like to get the pfc running on stock injectors/afm.

cheers

ok i just got a pm from someone who has some great advice-

"My suggestion is DO NOT re init the PFC.

Leave it alone and tweak the IGN and INJ maps via the commander and you air/fuel gear to make the car drivable in the short term.

When you get to a tuner with Datalogit, he can save all the existing info, then re-init the pfc, dump the relevant info back in the pfc, do the idle learn and finally start tuning."

so if i do this i should be ok.

thanks for the help people!

to all those interested

re DATA-INIT'ing the PFC is fine and perfectly acceptable

-BUT

you must re-enter the specific settings to make it work for the Rb20 hardware.

these settings are specific AFM correction, and injector correction and latency

if you enter both of those it should function and run like a normal Rb20 PFC.

there are no phyiscal modifications done to the PFC

the changes would be done on an in-line loom adapter (typically)

the main wire changes are 02 sensor, afm sensor, injector wire flip

its easier to do it on a loom adapter such as a boomslang.us adapter

that way the PFC is a true RB26 PFC and the loom and settings make it an Rb20 PFC

but ive been told that those settings cant be inputted by the hand controller & must be done by a tuner with datalogit?

i think thats what he meant anyway when he said this-

" If you do a DATA INIT, you re set the ecu to the original RB26 maps.

Unless you have access to Datalogit, you don't know what's going on with your existing AFM ramps and the other variables in the unit.

Every item has a ramp rate and they're not accessible via the hand commander. "

my first preference would be to a 'data init' & change the afm correction & injector correction/latency so as Paul says it would become a rb20 fc.

that seems easier??

yeah if they goto the level of editing the whole AFM ramp (20 values) then you need datalogit to reapply those

i was certain cubes had it working without editing the whole AFM ramp - i could be wrong
