Coolant Leak But No Overheat

Hi what would happen if the car has been run without coolant but the temperature meter (the one next to fuel meter) works like usual?

these are the things:

1) the temperature meter works like the same as when there's coolant in radiator.
takes 5 minutes for cold start to move the needle and 7 minutes to warm up

2) when realise the coolant leak and coolant is dried/gone, why the time for the car to warm up remains the same?

whenever the car is warmed and driving, it reaches half of the temp meter (with or without coolant)
but isn't it when there's no coolant the engine will become overheat and the needle will move up more than half of the meter?
what possible damage has been done to the car or engine? (it has been run for 600kms after last coolant flush during service
throughout these 600kms the car takes the same time to warm up like before
there's no indication that the engine is overheat judging from the temp meter (or was there?) because the needle never moves up more than half

is the coolant temperature sensor faulty?

fyi the coolant leak is between the coolant bottle on the driver side engine bay and the radiator, i am guessing the hose wasn't tightened but will send to mechanic tomorrow since he was the one who last serviced my car

Rb20det Intake Manifold Conundrum

Hi all,

I currently have a KU engineering FF Plenum on my RB20 and am fairly happy with its the job it is doing, however it is a cut and shut factory manifold.

The trouble I am having is that there is a crack on the #6 runner that is moving towards the injector hole on the manifold (factory part of the runners).

I could TIG weld it however the direction of the crack concerns me.

I have been thinking about getting a Greddy RB25 manifold (Genuine greddy) and adapting it. With Q45 TB to suit.

I do not run IAC or AAC so there is no issue there, and I have an aftermarket fuel rail (Which I am lead to believe will still work with my SARD injectors on the greddy manifold).

I also DO NOT run heater lines etc under the manifold and my turbo is a Trust oil cooled only unit which takes out a level of complexity.

The other option is a stock R32 GTR manifold and ITB's. The car runs a RB26 R33 D-Jetro ECU therefore I have the GTR air temp sensor already installed.

Can anyone confirm that the Greddy option has been done on an RB20? I have seen RB26 done, howerver I was hoping that by chance the RB25 manifold will somewhat bolt upto the RB20 (silvertop) without the use of a spacer plate?

If that is not the case I will have to have a billet adapter made.

But if the Greddy unit is an easier option I will probably go this route instead of the RB26 unit.

Here is a pic of my current setup.

-Ignore the Z32 \ Grex Filter that is now long gone

Thanks in advance
-Jez

Super Low Seats For Fat Guys

So I'm looking for suggestions for a drivers seat in my R33
I'm 6'3" so when im driving with the stock seat the steering wheel is pretty much in my lap which is not good when a little opposite lock is required in a hurry. I installed an Isotta taladega recliner which turned out to sit even higher than the standard seat!
So now I'm thinking i need a super low fixed back, which brings me to my next problem. Im about 95kg (aka a fat bastard) so I need a seat thats a little wider than ur usual race seats
Can anyone recommend a seat (fixed back or recliner) thats both low enough for tall people and wide enough for fat people?

I Need New Gts-4 Shocks! Advice!

hey guys,

i recently bought my r33 gts-4 and ive been working out what i need to get fixed, my mechanic mate had a good look over it and got some prices together for me. well the first problem he said was the shocks were screwed so he did some ringing around and he was being told by the manufacturers that no one makes new shocks for the gts-4, apparently the awd set up is heaps different and the only shocks u could put on it would be high performance racing ones, is this true?

he got some quotes for 2-3 thousand and i just went nuts lol considering i only paid 3 grand for the car itself lol

well thats my story guys, any advice on what to do next or anyone who might have some decent shocks lying around would be greatly appreciated.
cheers

ok so i finally got my car back today and decided to try this e85 everyone's talking about....

i went on a mission to hoppers crossing united and picked up 40lt for the bargain price of $39.90!!!

i then went on my road trip to my tuner, Rob @ CREATD....

car : 94 r33 gtst with an UNOPENED rb25.
turbo : HKS 2835 pro s (.68)
fuel system : nismo 555cc injectors, nismo pump
management : power fc

we first did a pulp run for comparison's sake and got 270rwkw...
then we dumped the tank and poured in the jingle juice... the first thing you notice is the smell... its sweet... real sweet...

turned the key and when the e85 filtered through the idle was pretty horrible, but livable, the afr's were off... but we gave it a pull just to see the diff off the bat without any fiddling... 278rwkw... not bad...

after a few more pulls and some extra fuel + timing we ended up with 311rwkw!

below is a comparison graph with pulp (green) and e85 (red)

the tune is now nice and tidy, and the car starts, idle's and runs like a dream.
the 311 rwkw is insane with full boost by 3500

traction is now non-existant (with 5/7 greddy coils, positive camber, sways etc)

so after day 1 of e85, i am a VERY VERY happy camper! i even went back and filled the car up and grabbed another 40 lt in the jerry's...

gonna run it for a full week as a test and make my descisions then... but so far, DAMN good!

below is a link to the vid of the 311 run:

311 rwkw dyno pull

BIG thanx once again to Rob @ CREATD for yet another bang up tune!!!

VINS you want "fasted"

As a thread "VIN's you want fasted" was pretty successful so I think we should restart it with some guidelines on what you can do to make it work:

1) Your VIN number is the Vehicle Identification Number from the Japanese factory. It contains your model number followed by the build number of you vehicle.

Examples:

- BNR32001000
- ECR33003928
- BNR34000897

When the car comes to australia the VIN number is prefixed with 6U9000 and you're Australian VIN number becomes 6U9000BNR32001000 (for example).

When posting VIN's all we need is the part of the VIN number after 6U9000.

2) The VIN number is found on the factory blue compliance plate.

3) The FAST program is no longer available for download anywhere as far as I know, is around 2.2gb so I can't just send it to you on MSN (sorry).

4) I do not work for Nissan (sorry again).

Hopefully someone can merge the threads or something....

my mate has got a lc torana track car that has just had the suspension and bushes done, been dumped and sway bars been added all round and painted and all that. already got a 9 inch thtats been modified to to take torana stud pattern. its curently running an old school warm l..u..m..p..y 202 but he wants more power. i managed to convince him that if he wants a reliable kick in the pants go the best the general has offered in the form of a rb30et with a properly matched turbo. (he he i got an import and i got the chance to put a boosted nisan motor in ausi classic).
i fugured a few guys on this forum would be able to give me some help should problems arise during build thats why i wana know if people would be interested in this build if i posted it?

the whole convert will be done by my self and my mate (owner of torry),
so far i got the folowing planed.
-rb30et motor
-c if i can mate his supra 5 speed to the rb30
-custom mounts and plenum, exhast manifold (might go tuned length for shiz and giggz)
-front mount and moved bov (mad inglish) v8 throtle body (prob polish allup)
-acl race bearing kit, new front and rear main seals, full gasket kit, oil pump drive crank colar and n1 oil pump, full new set fastners throughout, wisco forgies low comp, rods all treated and stuff
-im going to do the head work port and polish valve re grind and springs. deck block and head also
-do a custom o44 fule system with surge tank in boot ans it already has 40 ltr cell in boot also move batery to boot to.
-going to get Haltech e6x with loom and software to tune as i have read that its a fairly user friendly system as i want to be able to atleast base tune it with posibility of race tuning it in future.
i got access to gear and hoist and workshop for job. im a fitter turner with expeience indoing re- desigin and break down machining work in coal mines on draglines and 2 years of fab work with stainless and alloy and other materials of the such so i know the fundemental workings of mechanical parts. also i have taken in as much information about other custom fab and motor engineering projects. the only thing i belive i will struggle with is the tune but i got time. has ne one here tuned this type of ecu was it good or can u recomend another any info or ideas would be great as this is the first of my builds that i undertake this will train me up to do my rb25/30 convert in my r33 but ill be happy with my bolt on beast (makes mid to hi 300hp at rears) for now if people are interested ill post up picks and build details over the next year (he got 1 year of p's left). we are aiming for 300to 350 kw atw which is perfectly doable from a preped rb30 so im lead to belive if its tuned good. this is all going in a 1100-1200 kg car wich should be a strip and track monster to say the least with the odd power cruise thrown in i would dare say. well let me know ur thoughts dont be shy were all mates here
