You just need a new headunit. I got some japanese minidisc headunit and it would only pick up from 90 to 95.

did you have an after market unit in there or was it still the factory item?

if its still the factory unit you can buy a band expander so you can pick up the extra frequencies

if its an after market unit you just need an adapter.

this is the one for an aftermarket radio. http://www.aerpro.com.au/list.php?pcode=AP...=13&cat_sno=

and this is what youl need if its stil the jap one. http://www.aerpro.com.au/list.php?pcode=AP...=07&cat_sno=

Aerpro products are available from any good car audio shop such as autobarn, strathfields supercheaper etc etc.

For Japanese imports, you can purchase an FM Expander from Jaycar, ebay, DSE, Tandy, etc and this will increase the FM frequency by +10 and +20mhz, so the head unit's 76.9mhz will become 96.9 mhz and in Sydney will then pick up Nova96.9FM, etc.

If you have already replaced the headunit with an Australian unit and still having troubles picking up the headunit, there might be an antenna remote wire on the factory wiring loom which you need to connect your antenna wire to, and this will activate the car's stock FM amplifier module which could help you out.

Personally, I have never had good quality FM signal through a Japanese head unit and FM Expander because there is to many signals conflicting, but then I live in the Willoughby area with SBS and Channel 9 and ABC Bradcasting towers in close proximity to me as well.

And yes the R32's have the antenna in the front windscreen so if get bad reception you will need to find the trigger wire as brian said.
