Hey all, i know this is a double post but i'm hoping in this area i'll get input from the people in the know.

Has anyone had any track experience with their skyline who went from their stock spoiler to a stealth wing/flush boot, or to a different style rear wing, eg gts style to gtr style, gt-wing etc. I just want to know if the nissan engineers put all their time and effort into aerodynamic studies and put a rear wing on the skylines because it works with the body shape and creates good downforce or if like many new cars today they just put it on purely for looks and marketing.

Just so everyone knows yes i do enjoy track work and my car has always been built aroud practicality over looks.

Daniel...there is a reason why nissan spend $$'s doing R&D. Forget the low rise spoiler on the series 1 R33 gtst as that was just for looks....from the series 2 rear wing through to the GTR rear wings they are actually functional at providing downforce. The reason they are higher is to capture the air flowing down from the roof. Sure you can make the wing slightly higher or bigger to create more downforce but Nissan spent the $'s to achieve a drivable balance for the car...ie the downforce created at the rear matched the handling of the rest of the car. So if you modify the rear spoiler you may upset the balance of the car unless you are prepared to look at the front of the car as well.

As for the stealth/flush boot spoiler.....forget the downforce but they do create less drag so only good for drag use.
