hey guys i hope this is in the right section but i was wondering if the cross member from an R31 could get swapped out with a S13 cross member as i have a fully worked CA sitting here and i was figuring the cheapest way for me to get it sliding again would be to mount it in an R31 shell
any ideas how much work would be involved in doing the swap over - i would probably run an S13 rear end as well if that makes the conversion any easier any help would be appreciated |

In a Pintara, the motors are a bolt in but they do sit a LONG way forward and high , I'd be thinking about making lower, rear set mounts. Question covered plenty of times on the r31skylineclub boards.
S13 rear end won't swap easily into any R31. Imports have IRS but its completely different (Datsun style trailing arm) and aussie delivered cars have a borg warner live axle/4 link setup. -------------------- HR31 Skyline GTS coupe

putting an SR20 s13 crossmember in an R31 is a piece of piss.
go to an engineering shop with your s13 xmember, and ask them to move the front hole forward 35mm. I found that the crossmember slots straight onto the standard mounting studs and when fitted with an SR, it sits right back almost touching the firewall, right where you want it |

I have done the ca conversion into a r31 pintara(the purple pinny) it works well.
even positioned like the old ca20e motor . ive also done a sr20 conversion into a r31 pintara ....... not once but 2 times now 1 has a s14 sr20de motor in a pinny with the std crossmember and redrilled holes 10mm forward or back i cannot remember . and the other is a s13 sr20det red top into a pinny using the s13 crossmember modifyed to suit a r31 ,then a s13 steering rack, hr31 rack rods for the kyb rack ,hr31 front struts i cannot see why the ca s13 crossmember wont work and make the ca18 sit as far back as possiable , but same deal aplies your gonna need s13 rack hr31 rack rods to suit the kyb rack and then hr struts or you could go s13 rack rods and s13 struts etc if ya need any more info just pm me |
