Hi, as some of u maybe aware ive had trouble getting my RB30DET / GT35r to make deecent power.

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Rb...l=missing+100kw

I still have high exh manifold backpressure, and im making approx 450hp at the fly at 1.5 bar.

Anyway Ive noticed something strange with the turbo CHRA#...

my turbo CHRA number is 706451-5015

looking on the garrett parts list this doesnt match the GT35r turbo.

the 706451 matches but the 5015 matches a GT3076r

http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...am_May_2007.pdf

any ideas why this is?
what is the number on yr GT35r

Cheers rob

Got pics of the turbo?

I don't believe there's such a turbo with the chra 706451-5015

The GT3076r - http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...R_700382_12.htm
GT3582R - http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...2R_714568_2.htm

I run the GT3076r .82 IW and made 268rwkw on 15psi std exhaust manifold std inlet std cams.
Recently dropped a set of Tighe regrinds 265/263 9mm lift cams in and it is now at 302rwkw 17psi.

Pic's on the link in my first post, double checked the numbers on the turbo def correct.

Do you kno what they mean ie is the 706451 related to the compressor
and the 5015 related to the turbine???

The compressor inducer on my turb is def 61.4mm, not sure on the turbine wheel diameter tho...

Could always be a GT3040? or otherwise known as the GT3082. Basically the same arse end i have with the GT35r front end.

Regardless. Its not the source of your issues as those turbo's push 300rwkwfairly easy.

My bet is the wastegate setup. Its nasty your better off with a Garrett internal gate housing with a larger flapper.
Run a spring close to the boost pressure you intend to run as even ext gates will still be blown open.

I tend to agree, the wastegate setup is pretty much the only thing i havent changed - found real good gains with timming tho.

I rung around today, apparently the last 4 numbers are not important, they are manufacture dates/countries etc.

Im looking for a bigger exh housing(and to change the wastegate setup), but for the cost of a new housing i may as sell the GT35 and get a twin scroll TO4Z...

But like u say XR6 ones are fairly easy to come by, might give it a craic.

cheers

my number is: 706451-5015 also

On both of them.... GT35R.. 0.63 rear.... 700hp cartridge.... ext gated...

Makes 345rwkw on 21psi on my lil old 25.... 467 BHP??....rich AFR's too.... rev cut is 8,000 but still making a bit of power, its just reaching the peak of the curve at the rev cut... 6 boost manifold, 38mm gate atm.

Basically my rear housing is maxxed out... so your figure of 450hp is about right based on the fact the 30 bottom end restricts where you can rev it too??? ... assuming you have the small rear also.

I was also told if I went bigger cams I could get more out of it.... only poncams atm

But as per your above post... I have a T04Z sitting here... figure if its going to get laggy then it might as well be worth it..lol

Nothing to do with rev's.

^^ thought it might as depending on where he is rev limited too would depend on final hp/kw figure??

Mine has more in it if I lift the limiter and lean it out a lil... I just like a lil bit of buffer for the "just in case" scenarios!

The RB30 is a bigger motor so it makes more torque which = more power at the same rpm.

The less you rev a motor the longer they last.

Typically 7000rpm out of an rb30 is good for 700hp (~450rwkw). Much more and you need to start looking at extending the rev limit which is as easy as a set of forged rods, pistons and balancer. Then 8-8.5k is not a problem.

Rev's are a bad thing for longevity. sad.gif
