Hi I have got a s1 r33, I have just finished doing a conversion from auto to manual and my clutch has slipped from day dot.
-It is a brand new clutch and I dont believe there is any air in the system as I have bled it a numerous amount of times. (i also got a mate to bleed it for me as well)
- The flywheel has been machined
-There is freeplay at the throw out fork, although once you bleed the system up the clutch fork feel as though it is getting stuck and looses it freeplay.
-I have adjusted the master cylinder push rod to what i believe is the correct adjustment ( it has a little feeplay at the top of the pedal)
-I have cleaned both master and slave cylinders (they weren't that drty to start with)

I really do not know what is going on or why my clutch continuosly slips, if anyone could help that would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

When you say slip... Slip under full power 170rwkw? 250rwkw 300rwkw? or driving off boost?

Did you tighten up the pressure plate? tongue.gif

Sounds silly but I have forgot to do it once as it was being a bastard to align up.

Sounds like the thrust bearing isnt going all the way back on disengage, or to much power.
did you check to make sure the new thrust bearing wasnt longer than the old? did it slide easly over the gearbox snorkel ? did you grease it ?

Try this one , Put a longer Rod in your slave cylinder and see what happens as some heavyduty clutches only have a small take up point. i have had to do this in the past.

Is the flywheel stepped ? or flat? did you get it machined ?

Hi the thrust bearing looked exactly the same as the old one. The car is stock as a rock and it is a standard clutch, I put molybond on the input shaft but b4 i did that i cleaned it. I am glad you said to lengthen the slave cyl rod because that is what I am going to do tomorrow. The flywheel has been machined and there is no step in it.

Thanks for the advice.

Hi,

I torqued the flywheel to the correct settings and it slips as soon as you put load on the engine

Thanks

G'day mate,

have you tried taking the slave cyl off and taking the car for a drive this should illiminate the fact that it is an internal fault? (so no clutch at all you will have to start the car in gear without a clutch) If you are having problems with your clutch not disengaging why don't you try and shorten the rod. I hope I don't have to pull my box out again that is the worst box I have had to do so far.

Cheers

Hi,

Yes I cleaned the flywheel b4 I installed it. I pulled the gearbox out yesterday and found my problem. When i was installing the box I must of bumped the throw out fork . This moved the thrust bearing causing it to ride on the pressure plate springs making it slip.

thanks to everyone who helped.
