Incase you haven't seen/ heard there is finally an Initial D game that can be played on western machines without a jap console

trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufqel0IT1Ns

game: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-bp-49-en-70-2lx5.html (jap) (online play)
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-bp-49-en-70-2lx6.html (chinese) (no online play, english manual)

Anyway, my question is about the online play. Does anyone know if the online play works in Australia because i've seen a few videos of people in america being able to play online even though its not supposed to work outside of Japan. Not too keen on paying $15 extra for the online game when it doesn't even work.

Also, if you have the game, is it worth the money

how it works is that you WILL be able to play online but only with the japanese or chinese depending on what disk you buy, there is no region lock out on games for the ps3 but there is region segregation for online. i looked into this when trying to get MGS4 for a decent price through play asia.....

i might buy this game, although the constant japanese blabbering might get a little annoying

***thats stupid how you cant get the english manual with the jap version smh

I guess you havent read my post in the "Currently Playing"...

Japanese online play DEFINITELY works in Australia - my copy arrived yesterday and played it all all on my console and later in the day at my mate's house on his console. Neither me or my mates are Japanese but it didnt take long for us to navigate the menu with ease and 1/3 of the stuff is in english anyways.

The Japanese online version DOES NOT come with an English manual but you can get it online here: http://ps3mods.blogspot.com/2008/07/initia...ge-english.html
Your not missing out on anything important anyways if you dont get the English manual....

Yea i wouldn't buy it if i didnt have a steering wheel setup or used to play it back in high school at the arcade.

3/10 without steering wheel
8/10 with steering wheel

3/10? I didnt find it that bad! Only thing that annoyed me was every car being able to keep up with my modified R34 GTR down.gif I find the controller better than the steering wheel at the arcades - its too sensitive at the arcade.

Though, I'm selling my copy of Initial D Extreme Stage - anyone wants it? Its the JDM version with the online play. As new condition only selling it to fund real mods - $70 pick up or plus $5 posted via registered.

Initial D stage III and the Special Stage version for ps2 had much better handling, the new one is very twitchy although once you get the hang of it its not too bad, the graphics make up for it.

does it work with full 900 deg steering? i played the old one on ps2 and it only allowed 180-360, you know cheap arcade daytona driving. thats what made me stop playing it.
