i'm thinking of doing some circuit racing this year and was wondering what class people would recommend? i was thinking of super tt but i'm not sure cause i've never raced before. i don't think i'm going to be able to afford Drift Australia again this year, but i still want to compete in something. i'll have to modify my cage and i'm not sure if my standard brakes will be up to it, what pads do people use? thanks in advance for any tips. nathan weissel

Get some r33 or r34 brakes on it, nice wide semi comps, then take it hillclimbing biggrin.gif

I know a place you can practice wink.gif

There's also the motokhana champs in addition to the hillclimb champs. Or the circuit club or the SSCC etc

Nathan,
It all depends what you want to do mate.

When you say race, as in grid racing like Improved Production or any "State series?"

Or supersprints etc with other clubs?

Doing any state rounds etc, Im pretty sure you'd need to modifiy the car in line with the rules and regs etc.

If you joined the SSCC, you can do their interclub series with the alfa, hsv and wrx clubs.
They do supersprints, hillclimbs and 'khana's. (these guys arent strict with mods and stuff!)
With their classing, Im fairly sure you would be in the SVD class.

I joined the SSCC and will be trying to get out to a few sprints.

Pads? check out the suspension/braking section - theres a brake pad user rating guide in there! All I have been using have been benedict's.

Cheers,
Chris

p.s. Steve, werent you meant to be joining the SSCC?!!?

Have a chat with Duncan. I know he is doing a series this year, one thing though I think there is alot of restrictions to mods etc.

Didnt you say budget is a constraint?

Door to door wont be cheap. As far as racing on a budget goes IMO the SSCC sprints are good value (points are awarded etc)

Shame you're giving up drift seeing as you've got the talent needed!

Maybe simon would take over the r32 and keep on drifting?

i'm not giving up drift, i might have to postpone it for this year due to lack of funds, but i should be right for next year. i'll still do local drift comps and interstate ones with decent prize money.

yeah thats a shame to hear nathan - no doubt money is more important than talent in motorsport.

SuperTT for sure for an ex drift car.

Cams doesn't have any category suitable -
production cars like I run in are 99% standard including boost
improved production requires a 38mm restrictor (tiny) for turbos
sports sedans you would be legal for those but they are about 1.00 flat around wakefield.

AMRS is the most friendly for turbo cars in nsw, they run a couple of rounds in nsw each year. I'm going to try and do a round or 2 with them now I'm allowed to run a boost controller.
