In one of the biggest cases of automotive f**kwittery I've seen Ford Australia tried to blame the failures with their shithouse clutches in the Typhoon on Motor Magazine (and then customers), here's another story of a car company being a complete bunch of douche canoes.
The most pertinent post (to start reading from) is #42. QUOTE I got some more info from the folks at cafepress and according to them, a law firm representing Ford contacted them saying that our calendar pics (and our club's event logos - anything with one of our cars in it) infringes on Ford's trademarks which include the use of images of THEIR vehicles. Also, Ford claims that all the images, logos and designs OUR graphics team made for the BMC events using Danni are theirs as well. Funny, I thought Danni's title had my name on it ... and I thought you guys owned your cars ... and, well ... I'm not even going to get into how wrong and unfair I feel this whole thing is as I'd be typing for hours, but I wholeheartedly echo everything you guys have been saying all afternoon. I'm not letting this go un-addressed and I'll keep you guys posted as I get to work on this. I'm sorry, but at this point we will not be producing the 2008 BMC Calendar, featuring our 2007 Members of the Month, solely due to Ford Motor Company's claim that THEY own all rights to the photos YOU take of YOUR car. I hope to resolve this soon, and be able to provide the calendar and other BMC merchandise that you guys want and deserve! This thread will remain open for you to comment however you wish, and I'll update it as needed. I can't believe any company would treat its fans with such disrespect. The tribal nature of some people, especially the more flaming "GMH vs Ford vs everyone else" is a never ending source of amusment and I guess this is just sort of serves to bring back a dose of reality to them that yes, corporations are complete arseholes and you really dont owe them any brand loyalty at all. I mean really, these poor bastards own modern Fords and actually like them, it's normally punishment enough without Henry's boys stomping them in the junk. Now that I think about it, Ford has a bit of history back in the 1930's smashing up unionists, strikes and having their own private army, which was called the "Service Department" an interesting read

Wow I'm amazed at what lengths ford will go to! As others have said I don't think it is in their best interest to treat fans of their products like that.
On a side note when producing merchandise for the Vic SAU club we ran into copyright when we wanted to use Nissan or the GTR logo as Nissan hold rights to them in this country. However we were free to use the 'GT' side badges and 'skyline' logo etc as Nissan holds no rights to them here. -------------------- 0-60 5.2 sec 1/4 13.7 @ 103.5mph 60-0 120 ft - GTR = Absolute Power Corrupts!

Nissan VIC gave us grief from memory... Nissan NSW was OK with it as long as it wasn't mass produced (ie for sale to non members).
