As a V35 owner, i love the new V36 370GT in every way, and i can't wait for them to eventually hit our shores.
it will be a defiante upgrade direction for me unless i with the lotto and get a new M3 before that

i suppose this question is more directed to j-spec and the like..

i just wanted to know, given that the 370GT has been released in japan now, what is the usual timeframe for places to get compliance?
and, when we will approximately see them on the roads in australia?

The V36 isn't on the SEVS schedule yet but paperwork is ready so in a few months they will be listed and eligible to import and as per the 2004 M35 Stagea's emissions is needed and it is a $30,000 plus exercise, cost is more the worrying bit then thinking it will fail but it is still a possibility which is why none of the usual people have committed to test it.

It is being funded but due to various reasons limited workshops will be able to comply them even to the extent you might only have one RAW in WA for a year or two.

and roughly how much do you expect them to cost landed once compliance is available?

Any update on when it will be available???

It isn't on the the SEVS schedule as we cant submit the application yet so it is a few months away which means about 6 months before a car is in the country but currently no one wants to pay the $35,000 plus for emission test's (due to the variants).

Lucky to see them available by early 2009 and even then it will be limited workshops complying them and more then likely the bigger ones only as it will be an expensive project.

I was gonna say, they still haven't been out for 18 months yet, so they're not even on the SEVS register yet. I think a few people have applications ready to go though as soon as it becomes ok. I don't see how compliancing can be "underway", unless that includes what DRIFTT (and I) have just said...

As you know it is called "come in spinner" how many promises are made with out looking into it from the so called experts, you have to remember 2004 VQ25DET M35 Stagea's can also be complied.

Below is the link to all of the eligible vehicles updated regularly but this is only eligible vehicles under SEVS and their variants not vehicles approved to be imported and so their is no confusion the requirements to get the V36 and any other vehicle on the schedule.

I have some that can go in now but even then it still has to be viable to even warrant the expense to post it down to DOTARS, the V36 already meets the requirements aside from the 18 months from release date so no problem their.

Check this one out that got knocked back if it was this simple everything would be on the list and no wonder DOTARS are so busy trying to do their job with stupid applications like this not to mention the Kia and Hyundai ones.

Appearance Silhouette does not differ sufficiently to other vehicles in MA category. It is a van how different can it be to even suggest a different silhouette.

Design Features Fold down/up seats and walk through flat floor are not considered unusual design features for MA category vehicles. That is such a new idea as well.

The second one in particular is ridiculous, given that that's how the Delica got through. I suspect someone at Toyota has put pressure on - it depends on how far you want to take it, but you can appeal it (I know the ST246 went to court before it was approved).

Delica's are under MC and only just came in with angle of descent/ascent, nothing to do with Toyota they are more then likely just car salesmen trying to get them in as a people mover not convert to a camper like the El Grand as the change to the ruling for conversions is coming out soon.

whens the Altezza GITA going to be available under SEVS ?

I was actually asked about this one the other week and as I said then it was looked at a while ago but back then they were expensive and not many up at the auction in 3 litre, now the price has dropped but again not many coming up at the auctions.

When selecting a new model with no evidence available and if not even on the SEVS schedule you look at a few things to justify the expenditure and risk at importing something different which include,

1. Amount of vehicles manufactured and at the auctions,
2. What they are worth compared to compliance cost,
3. Year's of manufacture for reasons including evidence,
4. How many recalls does the vehicle have and their cost,
5. Are after market parts sold if selling to younger market,

Unfortunately what people want or what people say might be available soon will not justify the cost's involved with bringing new models online and is a fact to keep this industry viable long term as some workshops are going backwards.

sorry for the confusion. Yes, you are correct - the application and research into evidence etc has been done.

Given the current motoring climate - the decision to delay this may be indefinate.
